Aspiring actors have their chance at the national spotlight today. TW Garner, the maker of Texas Pete®, has hired Winston-Salem native Ramin Bahrani as the director for the commercial. Bahrani, who will be actively involved in the casting of the commercial, received national acclaim for his film Chop Shop, which late legendary film critic Roger Ebert listed as the 6th best film of the decade. Ebert also hailed Bahrani as the “director of the decade.”

The youth casting call will take place today until 3 p.m. today at Altair Casting, 703 Coliseum Plaza Court in Winston-Salem. TW Garner will cast two kids for the commercial, age 8 and older. Parents are asked to bring a current picture of the child. There will also be an adult casting call from 3:30-5:30 p.m.

Glenn Garner, vice president of marketing for TW Garner, saw the commercial as an opportunity to involve a community that has been extremely loyal to the Texas Pete® brand. Texas Pete® has expanded its reach in recent years from a Southern favorite to a national brand.

TIP OF THE WEEK

Show me how to do something instead of just telling me, and show me many times. Lots of patient practice helps me learn.
