     Meet Our Bloggers!

Karen Alley, The Daily Post. As web editor, Karen blogs every day about news and events that are going on either in our area or on a national realm. Bringing together hot topics with local ties is what keeps her perspective on the news interesting.

Renee, Teen-dom Tales, provides a look into the life of a mom of a teen, a stage of life that brings with it a whole new realm of parenting challenges.

Stephanie, Mamma Said, writes witty and insightful posts chronicling the development of her two young boys, ages 5 and 3. As a Greensboro resident, they're out and about at locales around the Triad quite often, and she also brings in the working mom perspective at times, with her part time job.

Lisa, The Single Mom's Soliloquy, adds a different spin on parenting as she writes about the issues, challenges and joys of raising a teenage daughter as a single mom. Her look at life in the new world order of blended families and split families is refreshing and sometimes controversial.

Heather Maggs, of The Time Out Corner, presents a humorous blog on the roller coaster life of a stay-at-home mom of a toddler.

Myra Wright, familiar to you as our editor, also blogs in Piedmont Ponderings. It's a great outlet for her creative sense of humor, and she brings some great perspective to life in King as the mother of three kids.

My Boys

Publish On 11-06-2008 , 7:27 PM

They seem to be growing up so fast.

I look at them and think where has the time gone. But I am so amazed at all they have learned and how responsible they have become. I'm so proud to be their mom and I love them more and more each day.

I guess I must be doing something right.

I Found Pizza!

Publish On 09-21-2008 , 2:12 PM

Moving to NC from NJ, there was one thing I missed, real authentic NY/NJ style pizza. I've tried several different places since moving here but none have been able to duplicate the taste. That was until now. My husband came home the other night raving about a pizza parlor in Greensboro. So this weekend we took a drive to Mario's Pizza (located by Costco off Wendover Avenue). Well let me tell you, I am in love! The pizza was amazing! Even my boys commented on how delicious it was and reminded them of NJ pizza. I even loved the decor of the place, down to the large framed NY subway MTA map. Reminded me of the days I rode it. So if you are looking for great pizza, try Mario's: Trust me you'll be glad you did!

A Wonderful Surprise

Publish On 09-17-2008 , 6:45 PM

Wednesday evening I received a care package from the Triadmommies Secret Fairy. The Secret Fairy spreads cheer to those going through a tough time that may be in need of some cheer. Recently I've been dealing with the loss of my dog and grandmother. So the Secret Fairy decided to pay me a visit and drop off some great treats. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful this gift was. And that someone took the time to think of me, bake brownies and drop them off at my home was so generous. I feel so blessed to belong to a community of women, who may not have necessarily met in person, but are always willing to band together and help one another. I believe in the Secret Fairy, do you?

September 11th

Publish On 09-10-2008 , 7:49 PM

Seven years ago, our country was changed forever. September 11, 2001, is a day we all remember. Each of us knows where we were and what we were doing when we heard about the tragedies that unfolded that day. I was still living in NJ at the time and had just left a job in NYC after the birth of my first son. I had just put my son in his highchair when the local NY station broke in and announced a plane had hit one of the towers. Initially they said it was a small prop plane but soon it became evident that wasn't the case. Even though years have passed, the memories of that day are still very clear and will always be us. 9/11 changed our nation and we will never forget.

Hurricane!

Publish On 08-31-2008 , 8:02 PM

Watching the TV news reports about Hurricane Gustav is keeping me glued to my seat. I, like so many others, am very concerned about those who are located in the path of this devastating storm. The lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina, have taught us to heed the warnings and prepare the best way possible, even if that means leaving everything behind in order to stay alive. I really hope it does not end up being as bad as it has been made out to be. At least it appears a great many have decided to evacuate and utilize the resources available to assist them out of harms way. September is National Preparedness Month. Even inland areas need to be prepared in an emergency. Make sure you and your family know what to do and how to prepare for such an event. Visit http://www.ready.gov/ for further information.
