Wheels on the Greenway

Published:

At the end of May, the Greensboro Downtown Greenway will host its inaugural cycling event, Wheels on the Greenway, designed especially for kids. Piedmont Parent will be hosting a vendor table at this outdoor event that is a perfect match for the 2015 Fit Family Challenge.

When: 2-4 p.m., Sunday, May 31
Where: Trailhead Parking area at Spring Garden and South Edgeworth Streets

Whether a little rider prefers two, three or four wheels, children are encouraged to pull their bikes out of storage and take to the trails of the Downtown Greenway. It promises to be an afternoon of fun and entertainment for the whole family. In addition to bicycle riding, there will be music, bicycle safety programs, 'bling your bike' stations and other bike-related activities for kids. Food will be provided by PB & Java. Greensboro native Rosemary Plybon will be chairing this event. She will be joined by other bike enthusiasts in the community, as well.

And when you get home Sunday evening, don't forget to enter time spent cycling and walking during the Wheels on the Greenway event. If you have not registered for the Fit Family Challenge, it is not too late. Register online now or visit the Piedmont Parent vendor table during Wheels on the Greenway to sign your family up for this free healthy family program.

The Downtown Greenway, a collaborative project of the City of Greensboro and Action Greensboro, is a planned 4-mile walking and biking trail. To learn more about the Downtown Greenway, including upcoming events, visit downtowngreenway.org.
