Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are the #1 favorite Halloween candy according to

If you are still prepping for Saturday, you could probably use a little information on Halloween trends. There is a site that crowdsources poll information to collect opinions from consumers who have access to the Internet. And while these trends may not be 100 percent representative of the general population with low margin of error, it is still fun to review what the folks who are participating in these polls think about Halloween.

Top Five Halloween Candy Selections

1. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

2. Twix

3. Kit Kat

4. Snickers

5. Reese’s Peanut Butter Pumpkins

While I agree with these candy selections, I’m not ashamed to admit we typically purchase either the bulk generic candy or whatever is on sale during triple-coupon day.

Top Five Halloween costumes

1. Jared Leto as the Joker

2. Minions

3. Chris Pratt in Jurassic World

4. Supergirl

5. The Guitar Player from Mad Max: Fury Road

These costumes seem relatively easy, but I believe I’ll stick with my witch costume. I’ve accumulated lots of witch accessories over the years and have a couple of hats from which to choose, depending on my mood come Halloween.

Top Five Scary Movies

1. The Exorcist

2. The Shining

3. Halloween

4. The Ring

5. A Nightmare on Elm Street

For the movies, my favorite is A Nightmare on Elm Street (the original). Then again, I never did scare up the courage to watch The Exorcist or The Shining.

Meanwhile, also has a crowdsourced list of top DIY costumes, in case you need some last-minute ideas.

For those of you who still have not purchased a pumpkin to carve, let go of the guilt. Your jack-o-lantern will be fresh, not soft or soggy, come Halloween night. There’s still time to purchase candy, make or buy costumes, pick up pumpkins for carving and watch scary movies to put you in the spirit of Halloween.
