Take a walk on National Walking Day

In celebration of National Walking Day, Fleet Feet Sports/Off 'N Running Sports is partnering with the American Heart Association (AHA) to motivate people across the Triad to get fit and start walking for a healthier lifestyle. Fleet Feet invites people to come out for a walk from the store at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2. Fleet Feet is located at 3731 Lawndale Drive in Greensboro.

Walking Day is part of the AHA's My Heart. My Life initiative, aimed at raising awareness about heart disease. Recent statistics show that one in two men and one in three women are at risk for heart disease, and lifestyle is a major factor. If you're not exercising at least 150 minutes per week, you are not active enough, says the AHA.

Walking Day is an opportunity to take steps to improve heart health. Knowing that heart disease is the #1 killer for both men and women in the United States, we are excited to be a part of a campaign that encourages a healthy lifestyle and gets people moving. Having a companion or group to walk or run with makes living a healthy lifestyle fun and motivating," says John Dewey, local owner of Fleet Feet Sports.
