The Triad offers an eclectic array of activities for families this weekend, from unique shopping opportunities to wild animal adventures, from outdoor movies to kid-friendly theater. Here are our top 9 picks for a weekend packed with fun and adventure.
Artisan Expo, Jamestown
Shop indoors with 20+ vendors. Enjoy refreshments from the Fuse Cafe all day and four participating local food trucks at lunch. There will be face-painting, funnel cakes and children's activities as well as a free bounce house. Organizers will be raffling off prizes every hour, including original artwork, handmade jewelry, museum tickets, free bowling and much more. Proceeds from the raffle benefit the non-profit children's program, Renaissance Kids.
Cinema Under the Stars, Winston-Salem
Filmgoers are encouraged to arrive early and picnic on the lawn and to participate in nightly themes inspired by the films. Beer, wine and soft drinks will be available for purchase; no outside alcohol is permitted. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome. Tonight's feature movie is "The Goonies" (1986) Come out and show everyone your best "truffle shuffle dance.

The theater company will have a huge assortment of vintage wear, costume pieces, and clothing and accessories for men and women. Used furniture, props and tools will be for sale in front of the scene shop, located directly behind the theater. To add to the fun, the La Vie en Rose food truck will be onsite from 9-11 a.m., with French breakfast crepes available for purchase.

Alamance County-wide concert series. Concerts are held on Fridays from May through August. Food trucks will be on site for food and beverage purchase.

High Point Community Theatre’s Youth Stage is taking off for Neverland this weekend as they present the Disney classic, "Peter Pan Jr."
Thirty-five Triad area children bring Neverland and all its magic to life. Join Peter, Wendy, John, Tinker Bell, Captain Hook, Smee, Tiger Lily, the Lost Boys, Mermaids, Fairies, Pirates, Indians and one very prompt crocodile for an adventure of a lifetime.

This 2-day event once again combines the 3rd annual BBQ cooking competition with the 6th Annual Criterium bike race. This State Championship is a two day fun filled event, with food trucks, beer garden, entertainment from local bands and a free Kids Zone.

When Rose and Euguene Wayward find themselves stranded with a broken down car on the way to their granddaughter’s wedding, they discover an unbelievable adventure lying just around the bend. The Steppup Family, a band of bluegrass-playing puppets, welcome the travelers to their struggling roadside attraction, where through song and story, the Waywards discover the incredible potential of family, no matter what size, shape or color it may come in. Zoo and aquarium residents will be celebrating too, with special watermelon enrichments scheduled throughout the day.
