Meerkat Café Set to Open at Greensboro Science Center

The Greensboro Science Center (GSC) recently announced that the opening of the Meerkat Café will happen on Friday, May 26. The all-new and reimagined café experience will replace The Fresh Market Café, which has operated since the opening of the original aquarium in summer 2013. No food services will be available at the GSC between May 16 and 25 due to the transition of operations.

"We owe a debt of gratitude to our friends at The Fresh Market who helped to change the entire Greensboro Science Center experience by operating our first fresh food venue. It has been an amazing partnership with a great company," says Glenn Dobrogosz, Greensboro Science Center CEO.

The concept for the Meerkat Café was in the GSC's original plans prior to The Fresh Market stepping forward, offering to donate 100 percent of their annual café profits. Thanks to the vision, leadership and experience of Jeremy Jhingree (best known for Jersey Mike's in Greensboro), the Meerkat Café will offer a variety of fresh-made foods including pizzas, panini sandwiches, wraps, hot dogs, frozen yogurt and assortment of comfort foods. Healthy options, including a vegan bar, will also be available. Specialty coffees will be offered for parents and chaperones needing that extra pick-me-up.

"Jeremy and his team are all about three primary assurances when it comes to food service – quality, quickness and service with a smile," Dobrogosz says. "His years of experience operating several Jersey Mike's stores make him a perfect fit for the more than 400,000 hungry visitors who visit the GSC each year."

"In addition to the great food and great service Jeremy and his team will offer our visitors, he has expressed great interest in helping the GSC with small fundraisers to support our admissions scholarship program, which provides free or discounted admission to financially challenged community groups who qualify and apply."
