The Haw River Trail will hold the 3rd Annual Trailathlon in the village of Saxapahaw on Saturday, November 12. The Trailathlon is one of the Haw River Trail’s two annual community fundraising events. The Trailathlon brings together families and athletes of all abilities and skill levels to enjoy the natural recreational opportunities of the Haw River corridor.

The multi-sport adventure race starts with a two-mile round trip paddle on Saxapahaw Lake, followed by a seven-mile rolling countryside bike ride, and then finishes with a hilly 5K trail run. The race is not timed. Rather, it is intended to draw appreciation for the Haw River Trail, the Haw River and surrounding communities.

Registration is $40 per adult and $15 per child (12 & under); registration is $50 for walk-ups on the day of the race. All registrations include an event T-shirt. There will also be a raffle for outdoor recreation prizes. A free pre-race yoga session will start at 8:30 a.m. for participants. The race begins with a rolling start between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. All proceeds support the development of Saxapahaw Island Park and the Haw River Trail.
