We've rounded up a hefty list of 15 events for you to peruse while planning for family fun this weekend. Whether you want to stay close to home or pack the car for a day trip, spend some green or save a few bucks, we've found something for everyone. But then, we thought you might also want to take advantage of the shopping opportunities in the Triad. So we've also listed this weekend's consignment sales. And you thought the weekend was for rest and relaxation!

Family Fun

42nd Annual Mountain Heritage Day, Cullowhee, FREEDAY TRIP

Visit the mountains for a combination old-fashioned mountain fair and showcase for Southern Appalachian music, arts, dance and song, with the atmosphere of a big family reunion. 

Asian Autumn Festival, Greensboro, FREE

Celebrate the rich diversity of East and Southeast Asian cultures with fun and entertaining demonstrations, exhibits, food samples, cultural performances and children's activities.

"Bye Bye Birdie," Burlington

The Gallery Players present this musical satire telling the story of a rock and roll singer who is about to be inducted into the army. The time is 1958, and everyone's favorite rock and roll heartthrob, Conrad Birdie, has been drafted. His manager devises a publicity stunt — hoping it will sell a lot of records. Fun and mayhem ensue.

Cinema Under the Stars, Greensboro, FREE

Bring a blanket and lounge on the lawn for this outdoor movie event. Tonight's feature movie is "The Jungle Book." The movie starts at sunset. 

Cricket Craft Festival, Winston-Salem, FREE

Browse arts and crafts vendors galore at this annual outdoor event sponsored by the Cricket's Nest Craft Shop.

FIESTA 2016, Winston-Salem, FREE

This is a multicultural event where you can enjoy Latin music, cultural programs, a children's area, Latin cuisine, a beer and a margarita garden, and local arts and crafts.

Ghost Train, Blowing Rock, DAY TRIP

Admission includes all the nighttime events in the park including the ride on the Ghost Train, Trick-or-Treating for the kids, Haunted House, Tweetsie Palace Spooktacular, the rides in the Creepy Carnival and the attractions in "The Boneyard” section, featuring the Black Hole, 3-D maze and a mystifying Warp Tunnel. 

GSO Mini Maker Faire: Where Art and Science Create Innovation, Greensboro, FREE

This event will celebrate "making" of all shapes and sizes, honoring all that is created locally, such as textiles, furniture and metal fabrication.

Liberty Antiques Festival

Four hundred dealers from more than 25 states pack this 100-acre farm with 18th to 20th century furniture and accessories, pottery, glass, clocks, dolls, toys, military items, advertising, decoys, jewelry, quilts, folk art and "in the rough" country Americana.

"Little Women: The Musical," Winston-Salem

Based on Louisa May Alcott's classic novel, this captivating musical follows the adventures of the four March sisters — aspiring writer Jo, romantic Meg, pretentious Amy, and kind-hearted Beth — as they grow up during the Civil War. 

Maize Adventure, Archdale

An entertaining yet educational atmosphere that celebrates fellowship while building traditional values. Offering fun for the whole family, pets are also welcome on a leash to share the great outdoors and explore the corn maze. 

Musical Chairs/4th Fridays, Burlington, FREE

The event starts at 4:30 with busker attractions leading up to the 7 p.m. headliner. The event presents an opportunity to gather with family, friends and neighbors to eat, drink and listen to music with the historic downtown depot as the backdrop. The event is family oriented and fosters a fun environment for all age groups.

Reach the Peaks Hiking Challenge, Danbury

A strenuous 11 mile hiking challenge that will test participants to summit the three major peaks of Hanging Rock State Park, including Hanging Rock, Cook’s Wall, and Moore’s Knob. 

RiverWalk Arts Festival, Bermuda Run, FREE

Enjoy an all day festival with area musicians performing on the River Walk stage throughout the day. Several vendors will be onsite as well as food and beverages for purchase. 

"Route 66," Kernersville

Take a dollop of "Grease," mix in some "Pump Boys and Dinettes," and add a generous dose of "Forever Plaid" and you’ve got the high-octane fun of "Route 66."Get your kicks with this smash coast-to-coast hit musical revue!
