This weekend, families can tour Old Salem for free in celebration of its 250th anniversary or pack a picnic and relax at an outdoor summer concert or movie. This amazing world premiere show features music from the 1920’s through the 1980’s in a jukebox style performance, with the moral stories of Aesop’s Fables throughout the show. Don’t miss a high energy great time.
Art Splash Summer Concert Series, High Point
This season’s line up includes artists highlighting various genres of music: Motown, Soul, Folk, Blues, Latin, and Bluegrass. There is truly something for everyone. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic dinners. Tonight: Dom Flemons.
Back 2 School Fair, High Point
Laurel Oak Christian Church will be giving out bag packs, providing free haircuts, snow cones, popcorn and clothes. There will be face painting for kids and a lots of fun activities, like a bounce house and games.
Cinema Under the Stars, Winston-Salem
Gates open at 7:30 p.m., and the film will be shown on the front lawn at dark. In case of rain, the film will be shown in the museum’s Babcock Auditorium. Filmgoers are encouraged to arrive early and picnic on the lawn and to participate in nightly themes inspired by the films. Beer, wine and soft drinks will be available for purchase; no outside alcohol is permitted. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome. Partnering with High Point Bowling, visitors and residents alike can partake in bowling, inside the Regional Visitors Center, using portable bowling kits that include carpeted lanes and rubber bowling balls.
