Celebrate all that mom and motherhood means to you with these Triad-area special Mother's Day events.

May 3

Makerspace: Mother's Day Cards
Make mom and grandma beautiful cards to show them your love. This program is for school-age children. 4-5 p.m. at Central Library in Greensboro. 

May 6

Mother and Daughter Night Out
A special night to create beautiful, unique jewelry from clay. You will be creating a necklace and another piece to match. Minimum age is 7 years old. Bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages to share as you create together. Registration required. 6-8 p.m. at YWCA High Point.

May 7

Animal Babies & Moms

Join Carol Kendall for a Mother’s Day read, learn and craft event. Children will make a jewelry box and learn about wild animal babies and their mothers. Appropriate for preschool and older. Registration required. 10:30 a.m.-noon. at the Nature Research Library in Liberty.

“Are You My Mother?”

At long last, Baby Bird emerges from her shell and expects to be greeted by her mother’s song. But her mother isn’t there. Where is she? With the help of Dog, Cat and Hen, Baby Bird sets out in search of Mother Bird in this colorful musical adventure. A perfect show for Mother’s Day weekend. Performed by ArtsPower. 11 a.m. at Arts Council Theatre in Winston-Salem.

Birds & Blooms
Treat mom to a spring day at the zoo. Be bird nerds and fly in for the NC Zoo’s annual feathered events and learn about the mission of the International Migratory Bird Day. 9-5 p.m. at the NC Zoo in Asheboro.

Family Discovery Hike
Spring is the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors and get some fresh air with your family. Celebrate mom on a hike and learn about native plants and animals through interactive learning activities. Ages 4 and older. 9-11 a.m. at Piedmont Environmental Center in High Point.

Mother & Daughter Health Day
For moms, daughters and all women interested in health and fitness, this is a chance to celebrate Mother’s Day weekend with educational sessions on weight loss, healthy living and nutrition. Ages 10 and older. 9 a.m.-noon at Morehead Recreation Center in High Point.

May 14

Girl’s Night Out! for Moms & Daughters
Moms and daughters are invited to spend a fun evening enjoying arts and crafts, pampering time, photo booth fun and a salad and pizza supper. Participants will also watch a movie on the big screen. Registration required. All ages. 5-9 p.m. at Thataways Youth Center in Burlington.
