June brings the end of the school year, the beginning of summer and lots of fun for families across the Piedmont Triad. We've rounded up our top picks for magically fun ways to celebrate the beginning of June. Here are ten family-friendly area events that are sure to evoke wonder, awe and lots of fun.

Centennial Celebration at Pilot Mountain, Pinnacle

Enjoy the sunset and stargazing at hundreds of magical stars from the summit of Pilot Mountain after a day-long celebration. Various events throughout the day will be held to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of North Carolina State Parks. Events include a fishing derby, guided hike celebrating National Trails Day, and bluegrass and folk music coupled with a sunset program followed by stargazing from the summit parking lot as our sun sets over the mountains of western North Carolina. 

Disney's Cinderella Kids, Greensboro

It doesn't get much more magical than Cinderella and her fairy godmother. The timeless fairy tale becomes a new audience favorite in Disney’s Cinderella KIDS, an adaptation of the treasured animated film geared toward young performers. Poor Cinderella is endlessly mistreated by her wicked stepmother and stepsisters and denied a chance to go to the royal ball. With a little help from her mice friends, and a lot of help from her Fairy Godmother, Cinderella’s dreams come true.

Dolly Parton in Concert, Greensboro

She shares the magic of her voice and personality with fans of all ages. An internationally renowned superstar, the iconic and irrepressible Dolly Parton has contributed countless treasures to the world of entertainment. See her live in the Triad this weekend. 

Exhibition Opening: Birth of the Cool, Winston-Salem

The magical music of jazz comes alive at this opening event. For the month of June, New Winston Museum is hosting Birth of the Cool, a compelling look at local blues and jazz musicians by photographer Owens Daniels. Celebrate the opening of the exhibit with an evening of music:

Here Comes the Bride! A Quaker Wedding Reenactment, High Point

The magic of love is celebrated at weddings, and you're invited to this one! Discover the beauty and simplicity of a traditional Quaker wedding. Historical interpreters will reenact a typical ceremony from the early American period and explain how it exemplifies Quaker beliefs. 

Parisian Promenade, Greensboro

Want to visit Paris in springtime? Bicentennial Garden is magically transformed into a dream come true as Greensboro Beautiful recreates the sights, scenes, sounds and smells of a spring afternoon in Paris. Sidewalk artists, live music, children's activities, family games, sidewalk cafes and more are featured - all within the colorful backdrop of the garden in bloom. Admission is free.

Winston-Salem Dash Fireworks Friday

A spectacular fireworks show fills the air with brightly colored fountains and more, magically transforming the sky. The fireworks display, presented by AT&T, follows the game and is included in the price of your ticket to see the Dash take on the Carolina Mudcats.

World Oceans Day

You have not one, but two opportunities to celebrate the wonder and magic of Earth's oceans. 

World Oceans Day at the Greensboro Science Center

Celebrate the sea at the center's World Oceans Day celebration. This year's theme, 'Healthy oceans, healthy planet,' encourages participants to take action to save the oceans.
