Let this be the year your kids take part in one of Piedmont Parent's largest events. Enter the contest by writing a children's book, and every kid who enters will be invited to the Young Author's reception to be held in the spring of 2011.
Who Can Enter: The contest is open to all children who will enter grades K-8 in the fall of 2010. Submissions will be entered and judged in age categories as follows:
K-1
2-3
4-5
6-8
How to Enter: Write and illustrate an original storybook for a child between the ages of 4 and 8. The book must be made by hand and not exceed 20 pages in length; no computer or media-enhanced submissions will be accepted. Only one book per entrant. Finished books should be bound (stapled, stitched, clipped or inserted into a folder). Please include a legible title page (only the title page can be typed) which includes:

How We'll Celebrate: The Greensboro Children's Museum will host an author's reception on Sunday, April 10, 2011, for participants and their families. All eligible children who enter a book will receive a certificate of participation, and can pick up their entry at the reception. First-, second-, and third-place prizes will be awarded in each age category. Grand prizes will be awarded for best overall story and best overall illustration. All winners and participants will be recognized in the March 2011 issue of Piedmont Parent magazine.
