Youth flag football for ages 7-15. The rules of flag football are similar to those of the professional game, but without the tackling. Flag football is a great opportunity for kids to display their skills without the hard contact. Participants will wear belts with flags attached, which the defensive team must remove from the ball carrier to end a down. No experience is necessary. Flag football registration is held in July.

Fall soccer registration runs June 21-July 22. New registration procedures - new players must come to office to register in person; returning players with no address changes can register by phone. City residents: $20 for the first child, $16 for the second and $14 for the third; for out-of-city families, there cost is $55 for the first, $51 for the second, and $49 for the third. Additional late fees apply after July 22.

League play is open to ages 7-12, offering two divisions: Pee Wees ages7-9 and Mites ages 10-12. Ages are determined as of October 16, 2010. Players are assigned to teams, based on the district in which they reside. Registration ongoing through Aug. 2010. Season begins after Labor Day. Onsite registration will be held at the Athletics office, located at 501 Yanceyville Street, across from War Memorial Stadium. Players can register Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department partners with the Greensboro Youth Soccer Association to provide recreational youth soccer leagues in Greensboro. GYSA sponsors fall leagues for 4 year olds and up, with registration in late May through mid-June. Both the GYSA, for 4-6 year olds, and the Parks and Recreation Department, for 7 year olds and up, sponsor spring leagues with registration in November. Player eligibility is based on the player's age from August 1 through July 31 of the given year. Parents need to complete the PAYS Program as a part of player registration. Team registration fees are $150 for the 7-8 year old age group, $300 for the 9-10 year old age group and $350 for 11 year olds and up. Football players must be at least 7 years of age on or before July 31. Mighty Mites, ages 7-9; weight limit 55-115 pounds. Mites, ages 10-12, weight limit 75-140 pounds. Cheerleaders must be at least 7 years of age on or before July 31. Participants can not turn 13 years of age prior to October 16. $35 fee for football; $25 for cheerleading. |
