Electronic Requirements
E-mail to your Piedmont Parent advertising representative.
Include: Company name, issue date and the size of your ad.
Fax a copy of the ad to Barbara at: 336-644-1707 or Amanda at: 336-376-0749.
We can also accept: Mac-formatted CD, Zip or 3.5-inch Floppy Disk.
When sending an entire ad:
Accepted Programs: (PC and Mac formats)
• Adobe Acrobat PDF Version 5.0 or earlier. All fonts must be embedded when distilling the PDF. Do not distill with "screen" setting. Call for detailed instructions.
• Quark Express Version 4.1 or earlier. Include all fonts and images.
• PhotoShop Version 6 or earlier. Resolution: 300 dpi. Text and line art: at least 600 dpi.
• Freehand Version 9 or earlier. Editable eps, converting all text to paths. All graphic files must be included!
We Cannot Accept: Microsoft Word, Works, Publisher, Word Perfect, PowerPoint, or PageMaker documents.
When sending photos, logos, etc:
Accepted Image Formats: Adobe Acrobat pdf, Photoshop tiff or eps. (Fonts and artwork must be included with an eps, where the fonts have not been converted to paths. Fonts should be in Mac Postscript format - no TrueType fonts. All color images must be converted to CMYK.
Images to be scanned:
Send a clean black-and-white slick if possible. Raised type such as on some business cards does not scan as well as flat ink such as on letterhead or company invoices. It is best to scan from a large image (maximum of 8.5 x 11).
Web Images:
Most Web images are at a very low resolution for the sole purpose of fast-loading Web pages. These type of images cannot be used for print.However, some companies provide high-resolution images available for downloading from their Web site. These images are acceptable.
Camera-Ready Ads
Cover Ads:
(Includes back cover, inside front and inside back positions)
• Printing: Enamel coated paper
• Materials should be provided at 133-line screen and 266 dpi as electronic files or film.
• (Four-color ads should include separations with color proof)
Inside Page Ads:
• Printing: Offset
• Materials Preferred: Black-and-white ads should be provided as laser or film at 100-line screen and 200 dpi.
• Four-color ads should be provided as film separations up to 100-line screen, with color proof.
